Status of Julie's condition
On June 30th 2105, Julie received the formal diagnosis of 'invasive lobular carcinoma', or breast cancer. Upon confirmation, the doctors performed a second biopsy on her lymph and determined that the cancer had spread there as well. A series of CT Scans, MRIs and other tests were then scheduled to determine if the brain, bones, lungs or major organs were impacted. As of 7/21/15, she has been declared cancer-free in all the other areas, so treatment will begin soon to remove the cancer from her body.Julie will undergo a double mastectomy, followed up with chemo and radiation. It will be a challenging, year-long process for her.
Prayer Needs
7/06/15: Finances are a bit of a challenge right now; Matt was laid off in April, and since Julie cannot do physical labor for the next 9 months, she has passed her jobs off to focus on the process of beating cancer. With no income at this time and the medical bills stacking up, this seems like a daunting endeavor. We have faith that insurance will cover most of this, but we are still waiting to see what we will owe.
Furthermore, the idea of finding a new job and ramping up for the role is extremely overwhelming to Matt, given that every spare moment seems to be wrapped up in doctor’s appointments, managing the home, and basically being a decent housekeeper (which he is failing at miserably so far… ;) Please pray for grace, peace and divine provision through this entire journey.
7/21/15: Currently, we are done with all the follow-up testing, and are now waiting for the treatment to begin. Please pray for peace with the knowledge that the double mastectomy is a very invasive process, not just the removal of a huge part of what defines Julie as a woman, but the pain and recovery is significant as well.
